ABOUT MY MONOLOGUE TECHNIQUE

This class gets you up on your feet and DOING—instead of in your head thinking about ‘the right’ way to do it :)
It’s 3 techniques in one: I show you how to DIRECT your monologue—create fun, specific staging that tells your story and  is fun to do and fun to watch. Your nerves will decrease because your body will know what to do at each moment. Your staging can then be adjusted to any size performance—from theater to self-tape. When you know your monologue is specifically directed, you can really let go and ACT your monologue. We use elements of the Practical Aesthetics acting technique that show you how to act a monologue with truth and connection—even without a partner. AUDITION technique empowers you to handle every non-acting moment of an audition—entering the room, slating, chatting, and exiting—with confidence and ease. This is the authentic skill set you need for auditions, and also for interviews, public speaking, and walking the red carpet.

P.S. All these callbacks are from EPAs where I had to do a monologue. Your class works.
—Amanda McCallum, New York Actor

THE MONOLOGUE AUDITION is recommended by Helen Mirren in her Master Class (TM) on Acting:

”Michael Shurtleff’s book Audition is a classic that acting teachers have recommended for years. Karen Kohlhaas of the Atlantic Acting School in New York has a wonderful book specifically dedicated to monologues, The Monologue Audition: A Practical Guide for Actors. Read both of them.” —Helen Mirren

We’ll say it. Monologues are hard. Legendary director and teacher Karen Kohlhaas addresses preparation to execution, demystifying one of the most difficult forms of theatrical audition. Headed to an open call? Learn how to direct, stage, and even enjoy performing your monologue in the room.”
